Description
Access a comprehensive collection of 5,190,464 unique active UK companies organised across 731 SIC-coded industries.
Compiled from the Companies House Basic Company Data snapshot for August 2026, this collection contains 731 separate Microsoft Excel (.xlsx) databases, with one file for each active SIC code/industry represented in the source data.
Because companies may declare more than one business activity, the complete collection contains approximately 6.72 million company-to-SIC records across all 731 industry files.
Each database retains the full Companies House source fields, making the collection suitable for market research, industry analysis, business intelligence, supplier research, B2B market sizing and building your own industry-specific datasets.

Product Description
The UK Companies House SIC Database Collection provides a structured view of the active UK registered-company population, organised into 731 separate industry databases according to Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes.
Rather than requiring users to download, process and segment millions of Companies House records themselves, the source data has already been processed and divided into individual industry-specific Excel databases.
The collection contains 5,190,464 unique companies whose Companies House status was Active in the August 2026 source snapshot.
Companies can declare as many as four SIC activities. Where a company legitimately declares more than one SIC code, it can therefore appear in more than one relevant industry database. Across all 731 files, this produces approximately 6.72 million company-to-SIC records.
This collection retains the full set of fields supplied within the Companies House Basic Company Data source rather than reducing the records to a small selection of columns.

- Construction
- Electrical and plumbing services
- Wholesale and retail
- Automotive

Database Description
The database collection has been created from the Companies House Basic Company Data snapshot dated August 2026.
Only records whose company status was exactly:
Active
were included in the compilation.
For each industry database, a company is included when the relevant SIC code occurs in any of its four available SIC positions.
This means a company with a particular activity listed as its secondary, third or fourth SIC is not unnecessarily excluded.
A company is included only once within an individual SIC database, even if the same SIC were to appear more than once within its company record.
The original Companies House source fields are retained in the individual databases.
Geographic Coverage
The collection covers registered companies throughout the United Kingdom.
Registered-office records may include businesses located across:
- England
- Scotland

- Northern Ireland

Understanding the Record Counts
There are:
5,190,464 unique active companies
in the source population used for this collection.
However, companies can declare more than one SIC activity.
For example, a company may legitimately operate in both:
Electrical Installation
and:
Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning
That company may therefore appear in both relevant industry files.
As a result, the 731 databases contain approximately:
6.72 million company-to-SIC records
in total.
This figure should not be interpreted as 6.72 million unique companies.

This database collection can be particularly useful for:
- Market research agencies

- Sales operations teams
- Competitive-intelligence research
- Industry analysts

What Makes This Database Collection Different?
731 Industries Already Separated
You do not have to process millions of Companies House records and write your own SIC-filtering routines.
The work has already been done.
Each SIC code is supplied as its own clearly named Excel database.
Full Source Fields
The databases have not been reduced to only company name and address.
The full Companies House source-field structure has been retained, giving users considerably more flexibility over which information they choose to use.
Multi-SIC Coverage
Companies are matched against all four available SIC positions, rather than simply the first SIC code.
This provides broader coverage of companies genuinely declaring a particular activity.
Active Companies Only
The compilation uses companies whose status was exactly Active in the source snapshot.
Statuses such as Active – Proposal to Strike Off are not treated as exact Active records for this collection.
Ready for Further Analysis
Because each industry is already supplied separately in Excel format, users can further:
- Filter by geography
- Filter by company type
- Analyse incorporation dates
- Analyse SIC combinations
- Examine filing information
- Segment by postcode
- Combine related SIC industries
- Build their own research or prospecting workflows
Research & Data Quality
The collection was produced through a structured data-compilation process involving:
- Source-file validation
- Exact company-status filtering
- SIC extraction from positions 1–4
- SIC-level deduplication
- Industry separation
- Preservation of original Companies House fields
- Individual Excel-file generation
- SIC/industry naming
- Record-count validation
The source itself is a point-in-time Companies House snapshot.
Companies House records can subsequently change through:
- New incorporations
- Dissolutions
- Status changes
- Address changes
- SIC changes
- Accounts filings
- Company-name changes
For that reason, the snapshot date should always be considered when using the information.

Need an Enriched Industry Database?
The standard collection is based on Companies House company data and does not include separately researched contact information.
If you require a particular SIC code or industry to be enriched, Bitrixa can carry out additional research.
Enrichment can include, where publicly available and verifiable:
- Company Website
- Business Email Address
- Telephone Number
- Other agreed business contact information
Enrichment price: £50 per 1,000 records.
Examples:
- 1,000 records – £50

- 10,000 records – £500

- One SIC code
- Several selected SIC codes
- A particular industry
- A defined number of records
Please contact Bitrixa before ordering enrichment so that the database size, required fields and delivery requirements can be confirmed.
Availability of individual contact fields cannot be guaranteed for every company because enrichment depends on information being publicly available and capable of being matched with sufficient confidence.
Important: This Is Not an Enriched Lead Database
The standard product should not be confused with an email list or verified sales-lead database.
Unless information already forms part of the Companies House source data, this edition does not contain separately researched:
- Business email addresses
- Telephone numbers
- Company websites
- LinkedIn profiles
- Named decision-makers
- Director contact information
